DIY: "Bootpourri"

(buzzfeed)

Step One:
Gather materials-
-Baking soda
-Essential oil
-Coffee filters
-Twine
-Water colors
-Small bowl

Step Two:
"Mix together 1/4 cup of Baking soda with 5-10 drops of Essential oil in the scent of your choice. Mix well."

Step Three:
"Scoop 1/2 tablespoon of the Baking soda + essential oil mixture into a coffee filter."

Step Four:
"Gather the edges to the center to contain the powder. Double up with another layer of coffee filter."

Step Five:
"Tie with a 5” piece of twine. Double-knot for security."

Step Six:
"Dip your paintbrush in water, then in the paint in the color of your choice, and then back in the water to dilute the color. Then brush lightly over the edge of the ‘petal’ part. When the whole area is covered, lightly go over it again with a slightly darker color to add depth and texture."

Step Seven:
"Let dry."

COMPLETE!

Simply Sorority

By Lexx Fusco @SimplyEvryThing

Spring and Summer 2015 are going to be huge for Redneck Couture and unveiling of new products. We have been kicking around the idea of custom Sorority Boot Bling. A sorority is a group of sisters that you choose. Much like the country music scene, sorority life is misunderstood: all party, pretty and play. However, both of these scenes in fact have an incredible sense of community, awareness, charity and fun. We wanted to do some research first, and what better way than to talk to a sorority?

(sororitysugar.tumblr.com)

I scored an interview with a lovely member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority of the University of Delaware. She was enthusiastic to answer all of my questions and an absolute joy to talk to. When first considering to write this article, I was skeptical but knew that I had to push my opinions aside in order to get the questions answered. I was pleasantly surprised and this individual was incredibly enlightening:

What inspired you to join a sorority?

"Honestly I wasn't sure about joining a sorority in the first place. At UD, you have to sign up to participate in rush over winter session and at one point I had decided not to do it. My mom was in a sorority though and she kind of persuaded me to just try it out so I signed up. Once I started going through rush, I realized how great of an institution it seemed like and I really wanted to be a part of it. I got more and more excited as rush went on as I bonded with these girls."

How did you select your sorority?

"I'm not sure how other schools work, but at UD the selection process is very formal and its less of me choosing which sorority I want and more of that sorority choosing me. After each round I write down my rank of each sorority I saw and they do the same of the girls. After 5 rounds you get a bid from the sorority that continually wanted you. It's a bit more in depth than that, but the biggest take away is that the sorority chooses you."

What are some myths/stereotypes that you wanna bust about being in a sorority?

"The biggest myth I want to bust is that sorority girls are "b*tches". I hear it all the time, from strangers and friends. A few weeks after I joined a sorority my best friend made the comment that "all sorority girls are b*tches". It hurt my feelings a lot but its also just plain not true. The girls I have met through greek life are some of the sweetest girls I know. We are all there to support each other and we honestly want everyone to succeed. Even girls who are not in my chapter (i.e. are in another sorority) are sweet and friendly. I am constantly interacting and meeting new greek girls and I've never felt like someone was being b*tchy or fake to me."

What's a Big and a Little?

"So when your in a sorority, everyone is your "sister" Your big is literally like your big sister. Its someone who you have formed a really great bond with. If you have questions, thats who you go to. Traditionally, its someone who you constantly are with, your best friend, your other have, etc. My experience with my big hasn't really been like that - and to be honest I feel a little slighted. I'm super excited that I get a little this spring. She is going to be perfect and I can't wait to spoil her."

What do you do in a sorority?

"The thing people first think of with sororities is parties/mixers. We do that a lot. We have mixers during regular weeks and theres homecoming/greek week mixers (we go to parties every day during the week with a different frat). We also have date parties, formal, crush party, etc. In addition though, we do A LOT of community service projects. Each sorority gets its own organization that it supports. Theta's is CASA. So once a year we hold one big event for our organization. We also participate in everyone else's events. Theta is (possibly) unique in that it has Theta day of service as well so it's a day that theta's from around the country all do some sort of community service. Beyond that there is also sisterhood bonding activities including sisterhood retreats, CAP events (Chapter assessment program) which are things like going to speakers, and chapter every week."

How has being in a sorority changed or impacted your life?

"I don't know that I would say it has "Changed my life" but I think it has helped me grow as a person. I'm surrounded by people who care about me and want me to do better. Being in a sorority has opened up my college experience a great deal. I always have fun events to go to as well as educational events. I have met so many new people and I have a whole network of sisters out there. Its also really shown me what I can do and I feel more myself than I ever have before."

What is your least favorite thing about being in a sorority?

"My least favorite thing is either the politics that go on - which can never be avoided in an organization, or chapter. Chapter is where we all meet once a week to discuss things. Its basically a run down of things we have coming up. But it takes at least an hour each week and we have to dress business casual. Not every sorority has to dress up though."

What is your favorite thing?

"My favorite things is all of the things I have previously mentioned - parties, mixers, sisterhood bonding, etc. etc. But probably my top, number 1 thing is just all the new people I've met. I'm not the usual sorority girl in that I hang out with mainly people outside of greek life, but some of my best friends still are from my sorority. My new roommate for next year is one of my sisters and I honestly feel like had I not joined theta, I would have been missing out on meeting some incredible people who definitely shape the person I am."

Redneck Couture Saved Big Rob's Christmas: BREAKDOWN

By Lexx Fusco @SimplyEvryThing

If you haven't yet checked out the jolly music video by Big Rob, watch now!

Pretty neat right?

Well, let's break it down to see how Redneck Couture turned out to be the Rudolph of the year.

First, Big Rob finds himself in a bit of a pickle when he presents his girl with a Beer Can Tree...

This is the face that says "This was the best idea ever...when I was emptying the beer cans to make the tree..."

His gal was not impressed.

So he tries again! With 2 Flannel Shirts, but the cutest top in the shot happens to be the one she is already wearing. Sorry, Big Rob!

Perhaps 3 Plastic Pink Flamingos will do the trick?

 The look of love.

NOPE.

But look at that hot tank...

Big Rob got really excited about his 4 Giant Tires:

We were much more pumped for this super cute vest:

But, Big Rob finally found the perfect gift for his girl at www.redneckcouture.com

5 BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT BLING!

*please accessorize responsibly.

We want to give a big thanks to the talented Big Rob Snyder for putting together this wonderful video and song.

Have a safe and happy holiday, y'all!

Take a few pics of you and your family opening up Redneck Couture this holiday and tag us! You can be featured on our social media!

Redneck Couture saves Big Rob's Redneck Christmas

Big Rob didn't know what to get his lady for Christmas... Luckily we were able to help him out.

Boots Do's and Don’ts

Boots Do's and Don’ts

DO: Pay the right price.

Don’t sell your soul for a pair of boots, but don’t cheap out either. Buy a pair of boots that will last.

DON’T: Buy trends

Don’t blow a whole bunch of money on a boot that you are going to wear maybe three times simply because it’s the “hottest thing right now.”

DO: Know your boot

Know what kind of bot you are wearing: style, material, heel, etc. Don’t worry too much about brand, but knowing your boot is important not only for fashion, but for care. Taller boots should be worn with pants/leggings tucked into the boot, while a short boot can be worn either way. Know the material and how the material reacts to conditions such as mud, rain, snow, line dancing, etc.

DON’T: Mismatch

A dark boot may be applicable with a variety of outfits; but make sure your boots and your whole outfit communicate well.

DO: Get a boot that reflects you.

DON’T: Wear a skirt with a hemline that covers the tops of taller boots, but stops a few inches above your ankle. It looks like your boots are pants.

DO: The Equestrian Style

A tall pair of boots with jeans tucked in.

DON’T: Let the boots dictate your whole wardrobe.

DO: Pairs for the “Any” occasion

Purchase 1-2 pairs of neutral boots to be worn every day or for a special occasion.

DON’T: Brand shop

Sometimes a name just adds to the price, but not the quality of the boot.

DON’T: Wear a boot you cannot walk in.

DO: Boot Bling

Not to toot our own horn, but Boot Bling is actually not only practical but really expressive. It can bring to life any pair of boots and it definitely catches eyes.
