DIY Bandana Back of Tee

OP: http://www.abeautifulmess.com/2013/09/try-this-bandana-back-shirt.html

This super fun design is completely customizable and would look great with any of our Redneck Couture tees or scarves. We would love to see what you design!

(abeautifulmess.com)

Step One: Gather your materials. You will need a long sleeve shirt (preferably a plaid button up), a bandana, scissors, pins, needle and thread (or a sewing machine.)

(abeautifulmess.com)

Step Two: Cut out the back of your shirt. You can use the seams as a guide. Now, with your cut out piece, lay it on top of your bandana to use as a stencil. Leave a ½ inch on the edges and cut your bandana to fit the back of your shirt.

(abeautifulmess.com)

Step Three: Pin the bandana to the back of your shirt.

Step Four: Stitch back together.

Done and fabulous!

Take a pic of your new bandana tee or long sleeve shirt with your Redneck Couture and tag us. We’ll feature you on our social media!

Bad Day Kits

We all have our bad days every now and then. It can be super frustrating, hurtful, tough and long but you make it to the next day and you should be very proud of yourself for that. However, it is nice to have some help.

This holiday, I started making "bad day kits" for people because, being a starving college student, I don't have a ton of money to spend, but I wanted to still get the special people in my life something special for themselves...

So I headed on over to Dollar Tree and Five Below and that's when it hit me: a kit to help get through a rough day.

You can create a bad day kit for yourself, friends, neighbors, family members or really anyone. You can get really specific or be super general. Either way, the kit not only will be full of stuff to help make that person feel better, but it is also a super generous thought.

Here are some basics:

-mini jar candles (Dollar Tree!)

-bubble bath

-pummice sponge

-incense

-candy

-tea

-hot chocolate

-fuzzy socks

-facial scrub

-applicator for mentioned scrub

-nail file

-nail polish remover

-nail polish

-a cooling mask

-a bean neck pillow

-a mini teddy bear

-movies

-earphones

-ear plugs

-bubble wrap (the most therapeutic thing in the world)

-joke book

If you want to get more personal:

-notes (compliments, memories, song lyrics, motiviationals, fun facts, etc.)

-pictures (personal photos, baby animals, hunks, pretty ladies, funny photos, etc.)

-journal

-a mixtape (CD or playlist, whatever you kids are using nowadays)

-giftcard

-coupon book (1 free massage, road trip, coffee and chit chat on me!, etc.)

-mini liquor bottles (for those REALLY bad days)

What helps get you through a bad day?

We hope that all is well and that these kits come in handy if necessary.

Let us know what you put in your kits! Perhaps some Redneck Couture to lift the spirits with a splash of fashion?!

Simply Sorority

By Lexx Fusco @SimplyEvryThing

Spring and Summer 2015 are going to be huge for Redneck Couture and unveiling of new products. We have been kicking around the idea of custom Sorority Boot Bling. A sorority is a group of sisters that you choose. Much like the country music scene, sorority life is misunderstood: all party, pretty and play. However, both of these scenes in fact have an incredible sense of community, awareness, charity and fun. We wanted to do some research first, and what better way than to talk to a sorority?

(sororitysugar.tumblr.com)

I scored an interview with a lovely member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority of the University of Delaware. She was enthusiastic to answer all of my questions and an absolute joy to talk to. When first considering to write this article, I was skeptical but knew that I had to push my opinions aside in order to get the questions answered. I was pleasantly surprised and this individual was incredibly enlightening:

What inspired you to join a sorority?

"Honestly I wasn't sure about joining a sorority in the first place. At UD, you have to sign up to participate in rush over winter session and at one point I had decided not to do it. My mom was in a sorority though and she kind of persuaded me to just try it out so I signed up. Once I started going through rush, I realized how great of an institution it seemed like and I really wanted to be a part of it. I got more and more excited as rush went on as I bonded with these girls."

How did you select your sorority?

"I'm not sure how other schools work, but at UD the selection process is very formal and its less of me choosing which sorority I want and more of that sorority choosing me. After each round I write down my rank of each sorority I saw and they do the same of the girls. After 5 rounds you get a bid from the sorority that continually wanted you. It's a bit more in depth than that, but the biggest take away is that the sorority chooses you."

What are some myths/stereotypes that you wanna bust about being in a sorority?

"The biggest myth I want to bust is that sorority girls are "b*tches". I hear it all the time, from strangers and friends. A few weeks after I joined a sorority my best friend made the comment that "all sorority girls are b*tches". It hurt my feelings a lot but its also just plain not true. The girls I have met through greek life are some of the sweetest girls I know. We are all there to support each other and we honestly want everyone to succeed. Even girls who are not in my chapter (i.e. are in another sorority) are sweet and friendly. I am constantly interacting and meeting new greek girls and I've never felt like someone was being b*tchy or fake to me."

What's a Big and a Little?

"So when your in a sorority, everyone is your "sister" Your big is literally like your big sister. Its someone who you have formed a really great bond with. If you have questions, thats who you go to. Traditionally, its someone who you constantly are with, your best friend, your other have, etc. My experience with my big hasn't really been like that - and to be honest I feel a little slighted. I'm super excited that I get a little this spring. She is going to be perfect and I can't wait to spoil her."

What do you do in a sorority?

"The thing people first think of with sororities is parties/mixers. We do that a lot. We have mixers during regular weeks and theres homecoming/greek week mixers (we go to parties every day during the week with a different frat). We also have date parties, formal, crush party, etc. In addition though, we do A LOT of community service projects. Each sorority gets its own organization that it supports. Theta's is CASA. So once a year we hold one big event for our organization. We also participate in everyone else's events. Theta is (possibly) unique in that it has Theta day of service as well so it's a day that theta's from around the country all do some sort of community service. Beyond that there is also sisterhood bonding activities including sisterhood retreats, CAP events (Chapter assessment program) which are things like going to speakers, and chapter every week."

How has being in a sorority changed or impacted your life?

"I don't know that I would say it has "Changed my life" but I think it has helped me grow as a person. I'm surrounded by people who care about me and want me to do better. Being in a sorority has opened up my college experience a great deal. I always have fun events to go to as well as educational events. I have met so many new people and I have a whole network of sisters out there. Its also really shown me what I can do and I feel more myself than I ever have before."

What is your least favorite thing about being in a sorority?

"My least favorite thing is either the politics that go on - which can never be avoided in an organization, or chapter. Chapter is where we all meet once a week to discuss things. Its basically a run down of things we have coming up. But it takes at least an hour each week and we have to dress business casual. Not every sorority has to dress up though."

What is your favorite thing?

"My favorite things is all of the things I have previously mentioned - parties, mixers, sisterhood bonding, etc. etc. But probably my top, number 1 thing is just all the new people I've met. I'm not the usual sorority girl in that I hang out with mainly people outside of greek life, but some of my best friends still are from my sorority. My new roommate for next year is one of my sisters and I honestly feel like had I not joined theta, I would have been missing out on meeting some incredible people who definitely shape the person I am."

Redneck Couture Saved Big Rob's Christmas: BREAKDOWN

By Lexx Fusco @SimplyEvryThing

If you haven't yet checked out the jolly music video by Big Rob, watch now!

Pretty neat right?

Well, let's break it down to see how Redneck Couture turned out to be the Rudolph of the year.

First, Big Rob finds himself in a bit of a pickle when he presents his girl with a Beer Can Tree...

This is the face that says "This was the best idea ever...when I was emptying the beer cans to make the tree..."

His gal was not impressed.

So he tries again! With 2 Flannel Shirts, but the cutest top in the shot happens to be the one she is already wearing. Sorry, Big Rob!

Perhaps 3 Plastic Pink Flamingos will do the trick?

 The look of love.

NOPE.

But look at that hot tank...

Big Rob got really excited about his 4 Giant Tires:

We were much more pumped for this super cute vest:

But, Big Rob finally found the perfect gift for his girl at www.redneckcouture.com

5 BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT BLING!

*please accessorize responsibly.

We want to give a big thanks to the talented Big Rob Snyder for putting together this wonderful video and song.

Have a safe and happy holiday, y'all!
